Group Opportunities
Good news at Carpenter’s Place
There are currently many ways to directly invest in the lives of homeless men and women while still adhering to COVID guidelines and safety procedures.
We love groups of students or adults who want to serve alongside one another to make a difference. Here are a few ideas of how your key club, student council, youth group or church might work together with Carpenter’s Place:
Donation Collections
Organize a collection of needed items. This is a great project for youth groups, clubs, organizations, and businesses. Carpenter’s Place staff will provide lists of needed items, promotional materials, and agency information. Many youth groups enjoy doing a “Scavenger Hunt for the Homeless.” Download the Scavenger Hunt Flyer.
Facilities Projects
Come and complete painting, yard work, and episodic indoor and outdoor projects that are appropriate for a group of ready, willing and able folks!
Food Preparation
Provide breakfast and lunch for our homeless guests. You can pick the same day of each month to serve or fill in randomly. We serve approximately 40 people at breakfast and 90 for lunch. Your group determines the menu and prepares the food. (We have roasters for warming the food, but we do not have an oven, stove or any type of commercial kitchen equipment.) Another option is to bring sack lunches prepared in advance by your group members.
