Carpenter’s Corner is the ambitious, long-awaited retail project of Carpenter’s Place. This new earned-income venture is a community Thrift & More Store that will raise precious funds for the support of our services to homeless adults and families in crisis.
Located in the former Schnuck’s building at 1715 Rural Street in Rockford, it will be much more than simply a thrift store. It will also house special mission-based programs such as the Cycles for Change bike program, a Children’s Giving Library called Kids’ Corner, professional clothing for those seeking employment, furniture, household goods and much more.
This project has been a labor of love. Over the past 24 months we have had the help of our extraordinary members of our Board of Directors and Young Professionals Board, along with other faithful volunteers to help make this dream a reality.
Thanks to the outstanding commitment and leadership of George Ralph, we are getting closer and closer to opening day. We’re staffing up, building out, and putting the finishing touches and this exciting new Thrift & More Store, benefiting our community and the thousands of residents that need us the most. Most importantly, you can start dropping off your donations now, and begin shopping in March! See you at the Corner!
We’re now accepting donations at Carpenter’s Corner! Mon/Wed/Fri., 10am to 2pm. We’re greatly in need of:
•Gently Used Clothing
(We’re not accepting sleeper sofas, mattresses, large appliances or large office furniture.)
