A Dollar a Day Provides Housing for Eight!

Carpenter’s Place is excited to have a four-unit, brick apartment building to provide transitional housing for eight homeless men in our Employment Program. We call it ‘Success House’ to capture the positive attitude and energy of the program.

Through the kindness, generosity, and amazing volunteer workers from Our Savior’s Lutheran, Immanuel Lutheran of Belvidere, and Heartland Community churches, the interior is totally undated and ready for residents. Praise God!

Employment and housing are the keys to ending homelessness. This project addresses both!

The negotiated price with $113,000.00. To date, $32,135 has been donated towards the cost; a balance of $80,865 remains. The math is interesting and powerful.  If 221 people donate a dollar a day for one year ($30.49 per month) we can pay for the building and move forward with the focus on the success of our guests.

These apartments will provide rest after a hard day’s work; a place to call home. Lives will change through accountability, determination and the dignity of a job. A supportive case manager and dedicated mentors will help residents become contributing members of our community. Opportunity + Hard Work = Success!
