Two components make Earned Income Ventures attractive:
- Programming: Earned Income Ventures will provide additional programming that is in line
with the mission and goals of The Carpenter's Place.
- Revenue: Earned Income Ventures can provide enough income to make a program in a large
part self-supporting. Some Earned Income Ventures are able to provide revenues that not
only meet program expenses, but are able to help support the main organization.
It has also become evident that individuals that have been on the street' for
some sometime and unemployed need to be re-acclimated to learn and demonstrate responsible
actions and attitudes in the work place. Without this re-acclimation and training many
will not be successful in retaining any job they may acquire. Earned Income Ventures will
provide an opportunity to learn and demonstrate responsible actions and attitudes toward
employment and interpersonal relationships. Participants will actually be employed'
in a transitionary, or even permanent, supported position in the program. Participants
will learn to be responsible in attendance, job performance, interpersonal relations, and
general life skills. Participation in Life Skills Training and Case Management from The
Carpenter's Place will help ensure that once gainful employment is obtained, housing and
general life stability will also be maintained
thereby benefiting the ultimate
employer, as well as the community, with a stable and responsible employee.

After transitional housing many Guests will still be in need of a permanent supported
housing environment. This may be a lifelong need. Stability can be maintained if the
individual has a positive and encouraging support base around them.
We anticipate being able to provide this through a modified Oxford House' Model.
This model presents independent housing that is self-governed by the residents. Continued
support would be available through Carpenter's Place on an as-needed basis depending
on the needs of each individual, however the goal is to have each individual learn to make
their own decisions and function independently to the level that they are able.
