| As the
Carpenter's Place Board of directors and staff reflect over the past
year, receiving the prestigious Excelsior Award certainly
tops the list of extraordinary events! It was an honor to be
nominated, a thrill to be a finalist, and absolutely amazing to be
chosen as the 2007 Excelsior Award-winning agency!
Our sincere gratitude
is extended to the Rockford Register Star for hosting
the "toast to all that is good in our community" event and
organizing the award selection process and presentation. It is an
evening we will always remember!
Thanks also to Phil
Turner for his nomination of Carpenter's Place and the many
individuals and organizations that wrote letters of support. We are
humbled by their kind words on our behalf.
We also recognize,
respect and appreciate our dedicated volunteers and the phenomenal
local agencies that collaborate with us to rebuild the lives of the
homeless in Rockford. Without them, we could not achieve our
positive outcomes. And, it is certain that the individuals,
churches, clubs, organizations and businesses that provide financial
support for our programs are the reason we can keep our doors open
and welcome in over 2,000 homeless adults as our Guests each year.
It is said that a
community can be measured by how they treat the least among them.
Take a bow Rockford citizens, you measure up as a community of
caring people who help those among us who are struggling so together
we can be stronger, wiser and more productive. Our future is truly
bright in the Rock River Valley!
With sincere
gratitude,
Kay Larrick,
Executive Director
